Set Preferences

Fill as many preferences you like! Choose budget, distance willing to travel, # of friends, and a category!rs!

Activity Options

Choose from the three options! If you don't like any, regenerate another 3!

Activity Details and Add More Fun

Have fun on your activity! Find more details on the activity page, overview, locations, and an itinerary. Want to continue the hangout? Add more fun!

DEFINE

There are many ways to make friends, the hard part is figuring out what to do together...

Initially, the problem I was tackling was how to make new friends post-grad. After talking to users and doing some secondary research, I found that people have no problem making friends. The problem is figuring out what to do with these new friends.

AHA!

People are over coffee dates and want to try something new. With so many factors to take into account, people get information overload and decision paralysis!

DEVELOP

Narrowing down the solution. Keeping in mind: simplicity and fun!

Brainstorming different options, I narrowed down the choices to one: Website Activity Generator. No commitment to an app, the website activity generator allows the user to set their preferences, giving them options catered to their interests! Anybody and everybody can use it.

DESIGN

Figuring out ways to give options without overwhelming the user

Quick, easy, and fun! The set preferences page keeps things simple with preselected amounts to choose from. Users get three activity suggestions—just enough options without overwhelm—and can refresh for new ideas if needed. Once they pick an activity, they get a detailed breakdown and the option to keep the fun going!

TEST

Results are in...You have to start from scratch!! 🙃

The inevitable...scraping the entire design and restarting. Users overlooked the set preferences button, which was a big no no being one of the core features. I had to figure out a way to fit all the preferences and categories onto one page. My current layout could not hold all of this information without being too crowded. So, starting from scratch was the move!

This time around I focused on how I can adjust preferences all on one page, no modals, no drop downs, nothing. This meant I had to center the layout around the preferences...

Uncertainty is inevitable, rely on the process and your data to drive you out of the dark.
